There are plenty of music and media management for Linux desktops, and Music Applet control almost all of them. It puts the control button useful notifications, track time and data classification in a practice area for your listening pleasure.

Many distributions applet carry music in their tanks, the installation should be a simple matter of the investigation into the applet in its program of music installation option. Once installed, click the GNOME panel, click "Add to Panel applet and select Music. The applet recognizes and controls VLC, Banshee, Amarok, Rhythmbox, Exaile, XMMS, and others, but can be configured to control a "favorite" player if you have more of an open.

While some players, like Banshee, and offers options for monitoring and reporting on the Linux system tray (also known as the "notification area"), but the applet music is much more configurable, multi-purpose. The manufacturer of soft and has begun work on a new version of the music applet, Panflute, pointing to the next version of Gnome, but for now, Music Applet is a very good solution for music management. Music Applet is a free download for Linux (running GNOME) only.
